Stalled Orange County community starts construction again after nearly 8 years
After construction stalled nearly 8 years ago, the Pacifica San Juan community in San Juan Capistrano began developing again.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) -- A gated community in San Juan Capistrano welcomed the noise of construction after its development was stalled for nearly eight years.

Work began on the Pacifica San Juan community in 2006, with the city approving 416 homes to be built.

But that all came to a halt when the housing market crashed in 2008.

"The previous home builder and developer and lender that were involved with this project, essentially everybody went bankrupt and you had 98 homeowners that were left standing on their own," Phil Bodem with the Taylor Morrison development company explained.
