'Pete's Dragon' stars share excitement at movie premiere

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- In Disney's remake of "Pete's Dragon," Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford both meet Elliot, the best friend of Pete, a little boy who's been living in the forest for years.

"I have never seen this movie in front of an audience. I saw it with my husband," Howard said. "Particularly getting the chance to see this movie - a Disney film - in front of an audience of children is going to make me emotional."

The film's director, David Lowery, said he knew exactly how he wanted Elliot the dragon to look, even before taking the job.

"From the very first time I even considered working on this movie, the idea just came to me: 'I think the dragon should be furry,'" he said.

"Pete's Dragon" flies into theaters Friday and has a PG rating.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC7.
