Hearing set for Amber Heard restraining order against Johnny Depp

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Lawyers for Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were in a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday for a restraining order the actress is seeking to extend after allegations of physical abuse by her husband.

Depp has already been ordered to stay away from his estranged wife and Heard is looking to have that order extended for several years.

She alleges that the Oscar-nominated actor was drunk and high when he hurled a cellphone at her during a fight in their downtown Los Angeles penthouse on May 21. She also said he used a wine bottle to trash their condo. Heard was seen leaving a courthouse a week later with a bruise on her face.

Heard is seeking $50,000 a month in spousal support.

Depp's lawyer, Laura Wasser, said she expects to have 23 witnesses, with testimony lasting nine hours.

Heard's lawyer expects to call seven witnesses.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carl H. Moor scheduled the hearing on the restraining order for Aug. 17, saying it could take up to five days.

The couple married in February 2015 and Heard filed for divorce in May 2016.
