Sheriff's homicide detectives investigate possible buried body at Carson home
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide investigators on Thursday were looking for a possible buried body at a Carson home, authorities said.

Homicide investigators responded Thursday morning to a home in Carson where a body was possibly buried, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives about 7:45 a.m. served a search warrant at a residence in the 21600 block of Prospect Avenue after receiving "credible information" approximately one week ago, the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Personnel from the sheriff's crime lab and the county coroner's office were assisting in the investigation, the news release said.

Video from AIR7 HD showed authorities outside of a single-story house on Prospect Avenue, which was closed at the scene.

Around noon, investigators began digging in the front yard of the home after cadaver dogs alerted them to locations both inside and outside the residence.

Authorities said "biological evidence" was found in the house, which is known for gang activity, but declined to elaborate.

"We know there's at least one person that was living there," sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza said. "We know that there's other people that frequent that house on a regular basis."

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
