West Hollywood street turns into virtual river after water main break
A major street in West Hollywood turned into a virtual river following the rupture of a water main.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A major street in West Hollywood turned into a virtual river following the rupture of a water main.

The break happened near Santa Monica Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood division.

The broken water main sent water gushing out, flooding the surface. Sheriff's officials said nearby business were being affected.

Santa Monica between Sweetzer and Kings Road was shut down throughout the morning while the water main was being repaired.

Information on the cause of the rupture was not released.
