AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two 13-year-old boys are recovering after being struck in a chain-reaction crash involving a suspected DUI driver Tuesday evening in Azusa.

Beto Torres and Anthony Gomez were sitting on a curb shortly after 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Renwick Road and Heathdale Avenue, waiting for an activity related to their soccer team, when a man crashed into a parked car that hit the two teenagers, according to and family members and the California Highway Patrol.

One of the boys required facial reconstruction surgery following the crash; the other suffered broken ribs.

"It was tragic but hopefully it didn't end in anything fatal," said Alex Galindo, a relative of one of the victims. "So we're glad that it looks like everything's going to be OK."

A GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for the boys' medical expenses and assist their families.
