LAX slammed during Labor Day Weekend
The Los Angeles International Airport was a gridlock at times due to the high traffic of travelers over Labor Day Weekend.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles International Airport was swarmed with travelers crowding the airport and roadways nearby over the Labor Day Weekend.

Airport officials said they expected a record 817,000 travelers to pass through the airport over the holiday weekend, with Friday and Monday being the busiest.

The holiday congestion led to a gridlock outside the airport as travelers rushed to get to and from their flights.

The rush of travelers comes after recent scares at LAX, including when a man was arrested near Terminal 3 on suspicion of driving a stolen car Sunday.

The arrest led to the entire terminal being cleared after panicked passengers ran by security, with nearly two dozen fleeing onto the tarmac.
