LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya joined "Rams Primetime Saturday with Jay Mohr Presented by the Southern California Toyota Dealers" to discuss the upcoming fight between Canelo Alvarez and Liam Smith.

De La Hoya, a Los Angeles native nicknamed "The Golden Boy," was a 10-time world champion and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist during his 16-year boxing career.

In 2002, De La Hoya launched Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Canelo Alvarez, who has a record of 47-1-1 with 33 KOs.

"Canelo is taking over kind of where I left off," De La Hoya said.

Alvarez and Smith will battle for the junior middleweight belt on Saturday in front of 60,000 people at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The challenger, Smith, of London, has a record of 23-0-1 with 13 KOs.

"It's going to be exciting, this is a tough kid," De La Hoya said of Smith. "It's going to be a real fight."

Though he retired back in 2009, the 43-year-old De La Hoya said he still gets the itch to jump back into the ring.

"When I'm promoting these fights in Vegas at MGM, the Dallas Cowboy's stadium, I'm sitting ringside and I'm telling myself, 'You know what? I could go up there and kick some butt.' Like I can still do it even though I have gray hair," De La Hoya quipped.
