PLACENTIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Police on Monday were searching for a man who robbed a Placentia gas station while armed with a gun and wearing a Halloween mask.

The incident was reported at about 1:20 a.m. at a Chevron in the 300 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, said Sgt. Bryce Angel of the Placentia Police Department.

The man was wearing all black clothing and a mask similar to the one popularized by the movie "Scream," the sergeant said. The robber pointed a gun at the clerk, stole a small amount of cash and then fled in an awaiting vehicle. No description of the vehicle was given.

The employee, who finished his shift afterward, said it was the second time he had been the victim of a robbery.

Police were investigating whether the Chevron station incident was related to an armed robbery that occurred in Cypress on Sunday evening.

At least part of the Placentia incident was captured on surveillance video, according to investigators. The footage was not immediately released.
