Bodybuilder with cerebral palsy inspires millions

NORFOLK, Va. (KABC) -- A bodybuilder with a disability is showing the world that there are no excuses when it comes to fitness.

Steve Alexy has cerebral palsy, but cerebral palsy does not have the 43-year-old.

"I wish the doctors that told my parents I would never walk could see me today," Alexy told ABC affiliate WVEC in Norfolk, Virginia.

Alexy started training for bodybuilding competitions a few years ago and has compiled an impressive collection of trophies.

At Alexy's most recent competition on Sept. 10, fellow bodybuilder Suzi Newman recorded his performance and posted the video to social media.

The video went viral, being viewed nearly 4 million times in just days.

Alexy's social media accounts have been inundated with comments of inspiration and encouragement.

"Great job, Steve! You are such an inspiration," Megan Cahak wrote. "You take every excuse a person may have and just throw it out the window! Keep up the hard work!"

"You truly are an inspiration @steve_alexy_bb. I live in Indonesia and people here are talking about how amazing you are. Keep up the great work bro," Todd Elliott wrote.

Alexy said he was still in shock and awe by how many people he was able to inspire.

"Thank you everyone for the support," he wrote. "Still in shock! Let's make this an inspiration movement! Anything is possible!"
