Suspect sought in attempted kidnapping of boy near El Monte school
Detectives were asking for the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 9-year-old boy in El Monte.

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- Detectives were asking for the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 9-year-old boy in El Monte.

A sketch of the suspect, a Caucasian man who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds, was released on Monday.

The suspect was also described as having a shaved head, brown eyes and pock marks on both cheeks, according to authorities from El Monte police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said he has a tattoo that says "Maria" on his neck, a skull tattoo on his chest and a dragon tattoo on the back of his head.

The 9-year old was waiting to be picked up by his mother in front of La Primaria Elementary School, in the 4200 block of Gilman Road, on Sept. 15. when the suspect allegedly grabbed the boy's wrist.

The child was able to break away, and the man was seen running eastbound on Ramona Boulevard.
