Friends remember Coronado crash victim as caring, trustworthy

CORONADO, Calif. (KABC) -- Neighbors of Andre Banks, one of four people killed when a pickup truck plunged off a San Diego bridge and into a park, are in disbelief.

"It's shocking, shocking," said neighbor Lucy Pedregon. "You never know what tomorrow may bring."

She left flowers on Bank's doorstep.

The 49-year-old, who was attending an event at Chicano Park on Saturday, lived with his father.

He was attending La Raza Run, a motorcycle ride that began in Los Angeles.

Friends say he was with his girlfriend who also died in the crash.

"She really took care of him and he took care of her," said neighbor Celeste Bell. "You could see how they cared for each other."

Bell said Banks was kind and helped watch over them and their homes.

"I could say to him keep an eye on my house and I knew I was safe," Bell said. "My house was safe, I was safe."

The 25-year-old driver of the pickup truck, identified as Richard Anthony Sepolio, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He is a member of the U.S. Navy stationed at Coronado Island.

When the truck plunged 60 feet to the ground, four people were killed and nine were injured.
