Authorities arrest man caught on video allegedly masturbating on Metro train

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities arrested a 24-year-old Los Angeles man who was caught on cellphone video allegedly masturbating on a Metro train.

Kerry Smith, 24, was arrested less than four days after a woman riding a Metro train to downtown L.A. captured him on video and posted it on her Facebook on Sept. 25. Her video went viral on social media and was shown on various television networks.

Another person using the Metro called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department hotline and said they saw a person riding the Metro Blue Line who looked like the guy in the video.

Deputies made contact with Smith and arrested him. They said he later admitted to being the person in the video. Authorities also said he was on parole and possessed a Taser, which violates his parole terms.

He was booked into the sheriff's Century Regional Detention Center on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a stun gun and indecent exposure. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The investigation was ongoing.
