LOS FELIZ, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 16-year-old is bringing out the spooks and scares at a haunted house he created in the backyard of his Loz Feliz home.

Timur Bootzin was only 12 when he decided he wanted to be the one providing the scares on Halloween. He starts construction on the house in May, and the mazes become bigger and more elaborate every year.

"When I was smaller, I used to be scared of haunted houses, like terrified," he said. "I've had friends from different schools come out that I reach out to every year, and they're always very generous in helping me with the haunted house."

His parents are big supporters and said they are in awe of it every time he finishes a maze.

The maze is open Friday and Saturday, as well as on Halloween night. He starts off the evening at 6 p.m. with a less scary trip through the yard for smaller children.

But after dark, everything changes. The thing about the maze is that there are twists and turns, along with a haze so it makes it hard to see what's around the corner.

"We got really scared and so we got out early," one young girl said.

Timur wants to be a film director in the future, and it seems he already knows how to create a hit.
