University of Central Arkansas frat suspended, student expelled from fraternity after photo shows him in blackface at party.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A picture circulating on social media shows a University of Central Arkansas student dressed in blackface at a party.

The photo was shared by a member of the fraternity on a private Instagram account, according to KARK.

Screen shots of that post spread on social media and the national Sigma Tau Gamma organization has recommended the student be kicked out of the fraternity.

The University president, Tom Courtway released a statement:

"A short time ago we were made aware of a picture on social media showing what is purported to be a UCA student wearing blackface. This picture is highly offensive and repugnant, and this representation goes against all we, at UCA believe and stand for."

"This institution embraces all races, cultures, and nationalities. We strive each day to be welcoming, inclusive and diverse, and will always continue to do so," the statement continued.

"The matter will be investigated by the appropriate University offices, and we can assure the UCA family and all others that it will (be) dealt with accordingly," Courtway concluded.

This was then released by the University:
