LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A homicide investigation was underway after a man was found shot to death in the back of a van in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The man's body was found around 8:10 a.m. in the 3500 block of Emery Street. Los Angeles police said employees at a nearby business called 911 when they saw the white Chevrolet Astro Van and looked inside to see a man slumped over in the back.

Authorities said the keys were in the ignition, the doors were unlocked and the right passenger window was shattered.

Police said the man, who was in his 30s, had multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Investigators said they believed the man was killed inside the van, but that he could've been killed in another location and driven to the 3500 block of Emery Street.

"It appears he got shot somewhere in the van. There's no indication as of now whether or not the actual crime happened here or at another location," Det. David Alvarez with the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Authorities were reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and buildings.

If you have any information that could aid detectives in their investigation, you were urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department at (800)222-8477.
