SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) --Kerri Riley finds it tough to meet a possible significant other so she's giving the Love Me Run a try.
"Short of hanging out in the wine aisle in Bristol Farms all night, I really don't know how you meet people in Los Angeles," Riley said.
Rather than traditional roads to romance, she's entered a 5K that gets people running and hopefully bonding.
It worked for Jason Brooksby, who ran after the Love Me Run Founder Camilla Swagar.
"The very first race I attended I saw her and I figured, I better go on a date with her," Brooksby said.
She noticed him too.
"We kind of knew right away. It was like as soon as I kissed him, I actually went home that night and said if I never kiss anybody else again I'd be 100 percent okay with that," Swagar said.
"We just got engaged this weekend," said Brooksby.
On race day, boys are in one line and girls in another. Then the lines will couple up and hit the trail.
"You'll run around the track five times with five different boys or girls, five different matches," Kristen Marion explained.
There is a "walk and talk zone" during the run that posts interesting questions to chat rather than pant about, in the event there's a lull in the conversation.
It's something Swagar thought may help those who haven't looked beyond aesthetics.
"When people ask me questions that created just some vulnerability, I found I had a more meaningful relationship with them," recounted Swagar.
The next Love Me Run is at Clover Park in Santa Monica at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The race costs $40, but there is a Groupon that will discount your wing man or woman, even your support group.
"If you come in with three or more people you get a discount on line," Marion said.
Sign up online and if you use the promo code ABCLOVE at check out you can get a single entry fee for $30.
In the event you didn't meet your match while running, there's a post race juice bar.
