WEST ADAMS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The search was on for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run in Jefferson Park on Saturday.

Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic officials said a pedestrian was struck and killed just before 2 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Adams Drive.

Authorities said the victim, identified as 50-year-old Iris Davis, was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk in a southeast direction across Adams Boulevard. The driver, a man, traveling east on the road struck Davis.

The driver failed to stop and fled the scene. Authorities said his vehicle was possibly a newer model light-colored pickup truck.

The investigation was ongoing.
