Man killed in single-car crash, fire in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man died Saturday morning after his car burst into flames when it crashed into a wall at a high rate of speed on a freeway off-ramp in Los Angeles.

Authorities said the crash happened around 2 a.m. when the driver sped off the 110 Freeway exit at 39th Street. The car smashed into a traffic signal then into a wall and burst into flames.

The man died and the car was completely burned, authorities said. It was unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The off-ramp was shut down until just before 6 a.m.

The investigation was ongoing.
