Law enforcement agencies in San Bernardino joined forces to tackle criminal street gang activity in the city and county areas through Operation No Boundaries.

Five months ago, San Bernardino police joined forces with the sheriff's department and other local and federal agencies to crackdown on street gang activity.

To date, Operation No Boundaries has led to the arrest of 41 individuals with charges ranging from murder, attempted murder and drug offenses. Investigators said offenses are all tied to the California Garden Crips street gang.

"Although some of the victims were gang members and it was gang activity, there were a number of innocent citizens that were just trying to get through life that were victims of these tragic events," San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said.

During the operation, police seized 43 firearms, some of which have been tied to other crimes in Southern California.

Investigators were able to connect the dots in the murder of Jaemiah Trammel, who was shot and killed while driving her car. The murder weapon used was also tied to five assaults and one separate murder.

Billy Duncan was arrested and charged for Trammel's murder in addition to the murder of Alejandro Herrera.

"Once a decent working weapon is amongst a criminal street gang, that weapon gets handed around and used by different members," San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said.

Due to the operation, investigators said they have been able to intercept five shootings and two robberies. Other cases are expected to benefit from the task force's work.

"We are very, very close to solving a total of six murders. Many of those cases are ... filed with the district attorney's office, the remainder are very, very close," Burguan said.
