GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Four people, two men and two women, were killed in a single-car crash on the northbound 110 Freeway near the westbound 91 Freeway transition in Gardena Sunday morning.

Authorities said around 3:30 a.m. a blue Ford traveled at a high speed on the freeway, which was slick from the rain. The car lost control, ran off the road, crashed into several objects and hit guard rails before the engine caught fire.

The slick roads may have been a factor in the crash, authorities said.

The transition between the two freeways was shut down during the investigation.
