A 10-year-old Florida boy with autism was back home with his family after being dragged out of his classroom in handcuffs and thrown in jail.
Sheriff's deputies arrested John Haygood on Thursday for felony battery on a school board authority. They said he left scratches and marks on his teacher's arm.
John's mother does not deny her son's troubled history in school but said his behavior is a result of his autism.
"I was extremely angry...I felt that this was a power play. I felt it was a 'this is what you get, you can't do anything about it. I'm going to arrest your son if you can't abide by the rules," Louanne Haygood, the boy's mother, told WPTV.
In October, John was expelled from school and forced to complete work from home.
