2 LA school police officers injured in Sun Valley crash
Two L.A. school police officers are in critical condition after colliding with a commercial dump truck in the Sun Valley area.

SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two officers with the Los Angeles School Police Department were injured after colliding with a commercial dump truck in the Sun Valley area Friday.

The accident happened on the 8500 block of Arleta Avenue at about 8:15 a.m. The officers were rushed to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

LAPD Detective Doug Larkin said the officers were traveling northbound on Arleta Avenue when they collided with the truck just north of Roscoe Boulevard. The driver of the dump truck had "very minor injuries," Larkin said.

Los Angeles School Police Department Chief Steven Zipperman says both officers are "fine" and did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.
