2 robbery suspects caught after search locked down South Los Angeles neighborhood

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two men were arrested for allegedly trying to snatch a woman's purse in South Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police said the incident occurred Friday shortly before 10 p.m. near 67th and Figueroa streets.

A perimeter was set up in that area, and the surrounding neighborhood was placed on lockdown due to the search.

One suspect was caught soon after the incident near the scene of the crime. The second suspect was tracked down by K-9 units several hours later on the 400 block of 67th Street around 11:45 p.m.

The two men, both described as Hispanic, were arrested and booked on robbery charges.

Los Angeles police told Eyewitness News that one of the suspects may have been armed, but they have not released any further details.
