2 sought in armed robbery of University of Redlands students

REDLANDS, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are searching for two armed robbers who held up four University of Redlands students and committed another robbery the same night.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, four female students were robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Brockton Avenue and Grove Street. They gave the suspects their belongings and were not hurt during the incident.

Student Jack Liss said he was at a party in that same location, which was attended by about 60 students. He said he left half an hour before the robbery occurred.

"It was obviously a big deal when anyone is robbed at gunpoint. It's a scary thing," he said.

Then about an hour later, another robbery happened off campus about one mile away from where the women were robbed. Police said the same guys were involved and pistol whipped an Uber driver, robbing him.

The first suspect was described as a man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, with short hair. The second suspect is a man in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 11 inches, with a thin to medium build and short hair. He also has a cursive writing tattoo along the left side of his neck.

Redlands police have increased patrols around the campus since the incident and are working on composite sketches of the two suspects. They are also looking for a white 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan.
