2 stranded boaters rescued off coast of Port Hueneme
Two stranded boaters without life jackets were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard off the coast of Port Hueneme Sunday morning.

PORT HUENEME, Calif. (KABC) -- Two stranded boaters without life jackets were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard off the coast of Port Hueneme Sunday morning.

Officials with the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles- Long Beach said they received a call for help regarding an overturned vessel. Rescuers in a helicopter spotted the partially submerged vessel and two people nearby.

They were taken to a hospital with signs of hypothermia. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The Coast Guard reminds people to wear proper safety equipment when boating.

"Having the proper safety equipment will assist rescue crews with locating you more expeditiously and ensuring your safety," the Coast Guard said in a press release.
