Inland Empire man reaches 4,000 push-ups in 24 hrs for homeless veterans

MURRIETA, Calif. (KABC) -- An Inland Empire man raising money for homeless veterans by attempting to break a world record fell short of his goal, but an injury did not stop him from pushing forward.

Jeff Myers attempted to become the first person ever to do 50,000 push-ups in 24 hours.

His effort began Saturday night at streamline fitness in Murrieta. Unfortunately, he was nursing a shoulder injury, which led him to stop at 4,000 push-ups, he told Eyewitness News on Sunday.

Myers said he hopes to raise $1 each push-up for the charity Wounded Warriors Project.

The charity will use the money for a housing program that helps combat veterans suffering from traumatic injuries.
