MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A public memorial for a local Marine killed in a plane crash in Mississippi was set for Sunday in Manhattan Beach.

Chad Elliott Jenson's service is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Mira Costa High School's football stadium, located at 1401 Artesia Boulevard.

The 25-year-old Redondo Beach native helped lead the Mira Costa football team to a championship in 2009.

Jenson was among 15 Marines and one Navy sailor who died when their plane went down on its way to California last month.

Three of the service members killed were from Southern California.
