SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Three people were injured after a driver police thought was in a stolen vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into cars, causing one to veer into the front of a Sun Valley home.

Authorities said the incident happened around 6:50 p.m. in the 11400 block of Saticoy Street. A gang shooting had happened nearby, and authorities spotted a car they believed was involved in the shooting and may have been stolen.

Officers tried to pull over the suspect, but the person took off. Authorities did not chase the vehicle.

As the driver was fleeing from the scene, the person ran a stop sign and crashed into two other cars. One of those vehicles careened into the front yard of a home, landing upside down.

Resident Doreen Dannelly said she saw a man on the ground near a white car after he had been ejected from the vehicle.

"I was terrified. First, I didn't know if he was dead or alive," she said. "I just heard somebody wailing and I turned around and a guy was in my yard face down."

Charlie Dannelly rushed home after he received a frightened call from his wife Doreen.

"The place is just a mess. My neighbor's yard has been trashed. I'm just glad that my wife is OK and structurally my house is OK," he said.

Authorities said the driver they suspected was involved in the gang shooting was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. Another person also suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

The third person only suffered minor injuries and was not transported.

The driver who caused the crash will be facing various charges.

The investigation was ongoing.
