WEST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police detectives are searching for a suspect after a hit-and-run in West Los Angeles that left a woman dead.

The incident is believed to have occurred around 8:25 p.m. Aug. 30 at Wilshire Boulevard and Federal Avenue. The suspect was eastbound on Wilshire as the pedestrian crossed in the marked crosswalk, according to police.

The driver struck the woman and fled the scene without attempting to help her, police said.

The victim is a woman in her 50s. Police have declined to release her identity pending notification of her next of kin.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact the LAPD West Traffic Division detectives at (213) 473-0234.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise, according to the LAPD.
