Petting zoo pops up at LA's Union Station
The LA County Fair brought its petting zoo to commuters at Union Station.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- If you can't get to the Los Angeles County Fair, the fair just might come to you.

Some commuters got a little something extra at L.A's Union Station Thursday morning.

First there was a cowboy, twirling quite a fancy rope.

And then there was the petting zoo, a menagerie of baby animals including a calf, goat, rooster and pig.

"It's been an awesome event, getting to get out here and bring some of the petting zoo animals into a different environment," said Ethan Zeidler with the fair. "A lot of people were just not expecting it. Cool to see the reactions and get people involved with the animals that we have for the fair."

At times there were more pictures being taken than petting.

And who knew your morning commute could become such a photo op for your Twitter or Instagram feed or a post to your Facebook page?

It was all a reminder to take Metrolink on the weekend to get to the fair.

"The response has been great, a lot of smiles, a lot of happy faces," said Chris Gutierrez with Metrolink.

You can get off at the Pomona Fairplex station and then hop on the free shuttle that drops you right at the front gate.

But this day was all about slowing down that morning rush and finding a smile or two in what is usually a tad more stressful situation.
