Gang member arrested in fatal beating of man, 27, in Koreatown
A gang member has been arrested in connection with the fatal beating of a 27-year-old father that occurred Aug. 30 in Koreatown, police announced Friday.

KOREATOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A gang member has been arrested in connection with the fatal beating of a 27-year-old father that occurred Aug. 30 in Koreatown, police announced Friday.

Jairo Mendoza, 20, was arrested Wednesday evening by gang officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Division, the agency said. He was being held in lieu of $2.12-million bail.

According to the LAPD, Mendoza is suspected of being one of several gang members who attacked 27-year-old Bryan Hernandez in the area of 8th Street and Normandie Avenue.

Hernandez was declared brain dead after being hospitalized with severe injuries, his family said.
