SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police took a driver into custody on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights on Thursday afternoon after a man was shot and killed at a strip mall in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of 42nd Street and Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Witnesses said they heard two gunshots in the parking lot of the strip mall.
