VIDEO: Robber grabs cash from East Hollywood gas station
Raw surveillance video shows a robbery suspect pushing a cashier and grabbing cash from the register at an East Hollywood gas station.

EAST HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The search is on for a robbery suspect who lied about needing change in order to grab cash from the register at an East Hollywood gas station.

On Aug. 27 around 11 a.m., the suspect entered the business, located at the corner of Vermont Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, police said.

He asked the cashier for $2 in change. When the cashier opened the cash register, the suspect forcefully pushed the cashier and grabbed fistfuls of cash from the register. He then fled the scene.

The entire ordeal was captured on a surveillance camera. The footage was recently released by Los Angeles police.

The suspect was described as an African-American male between 25 and 35 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing between 200 and 220 pounds with a full beard.

He was seen wearing a long-sleeve gray dress shirt, red pants and white shoes. Police said there was no getaway vehicle seen.
