A homicide investigation is underway Saturday morning after a man and woman were shot and killed at a house party in Lancaster.

The shooting happened at about 1:45 a.m. in the 43000 block of 6th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman bleeding on the street. They had been shot multiple times. They were dead at the scene, authorities said.

LASD Homicide Bureau Lt. Derrick Alfred said a party was taking place when both victims were shot at least once in what started as an altercation. A white vehicle also had damage consistent with gunshots, and the occupants are considered victims but were not struck by gunfire, he added.

The grandmother of the woman, who she identified as Clotee Reyes, was at the scene of the shooting.

"The senseless happenings to these young people today, you know? You can't even come out and enjoy yourself unless some hoodlum wants to come out here and just destroy you," Renee said. "It hurts. What can I say?"

She said her granddaughter had just started going to college.

Renee pleaded with the suspect or suspects to come forward in the shooting.

"Turn yourself in and do the right thing. Cause you know, you never know, it may be tomorrow that somebody in your family may turn around and get hurt," she said.

No arrests have been made, officials said. There was no immediate word on a suspect description or a motive for the shooting, but officials said the incident does not appear to be gang-related.

Alfred said investigators believe there may be more victims and witnesses. Deputies have not officially identified either victim.

Anyone with information about the incident was encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
