Jackson Limousine Service is spreading the Thanksgiving spirit to families in South Los Angeles once again on Tuesday, as they hand out 12,000 boxes of turkey and fixings.

Thousands of people were waiting in line at 3669 W. Slauson Avenue to receive the generous donations, which include turkeys, various produce and classic Thanksgiving sides from the E.J. Jackson Foundation and other sponsors.

Many in the community say they feel blessed and grateful to be able to take part in the annual giveaway, which kicked off its 34th year at 8 a.m.

Every year, the company, which was run by late local business owner and philanthropist E.J. Jackson, hands out complete turkey dinners to those in need.

E.J. Jackson died just weeks before Thanksgiving in 2016 after suffering a heart attack. His family and team of volunteers said they're happy to keep the tradition going in his honor.

"My dad planted a seed of kindness, and to see that it's grown into something is amazing, able to feed 10-12,000 people is amazing," said his son, Tyron Jackson. "I feel it's necessary to be here to show the people how much my dad loved them."

The city of L.A. designated the limo yard and donation site as E.J. Jackson Square.
