Stingray warning issued for Huntington Beach amid hot Thanksgiving holiday temps

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Although it's November, temperatures are in the 90s for a lot of areas in Southern California and caused an Orange County beach to issue a stingray warning.

The Huntington Beach Surf Lifesaving Association tweeted out the warning Thanksgiving morning as temps are expected to be in the mid-to-upper 80s for the area. The water temperature was in the low 60s.

Beachgoers are urged to shuffle their feet as they go into the water to scare off stingrays. According to the association, many have been spotted in the waters in recent days.

Shuffling your feet through the sand as you enter the water causes the stingrays to sense those vibrations and swim off before you can step on them.
