TheFitExpo brings fitness enthusiasts to LA Convention Center
Over 50,000 are expected at the annual FitExpo at the L.A. Convention Center, featuring 400 companies and competitions.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Protein powder, crazy tights and muscle mania are what you'll see at this year's TheFitExpo.

Four-hundred companies will be selling all things related to fitness: diet, nutrition, strength -- even fitness dating -- and plenty of creative classes.

"Super, super fun workout on the trampoline. It actually has a T-bar if people don't feel comfortable, they have some safety," said Boogie Bounce director Dre Nichols-Everett.

"I've been coming to the Fit Expo for about 15 years," said Greg Nigro of Vicore Fitness.

Nigro was on hand representing a new tool called the Terra-Core that helps body weight workouts, to name a few.

"It gives you full spinal support. It keeps you neutral-spine, keeps your feet neutral as well," said Nigro.

He's definitely in shape but has thoughts on what fitness truly means.

"I don't think you necessarily need to be shredded and have abs or 3 percent body fat. I think what people need to do, they need to find what it means to them," said Nigro.

"Fitness means to me constantly want to improve yourself and be the best person you can be -- better than the person you were yesterday," said Michael Ruther of Los Angeles.

Ruther feels fit now. He stood in a long line to get inspirational fitness wear from Barbell Brigade as it helped him do something special.

"I used to be 300 pounds. I'm like 190 right now," Ruther exclaimed.

This expo has gotten so big they actually have an entire hall for all the competitions: arm wrestling, powerlifting, Spartan races and dodgeball.

Arm-wrestling contests are done by weight division, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu tournaments take center stage, and three dodgeball games will be going at any one time. There is plenty of powerlifting and something called the Battle of the Bar, the ultimate in calisthenics.

No surprise there is no shortage of eye candy. Team Edge creator Ingrid Romero teaches people how to pose for bodybuilding competitions.

"To pose, and with the weightlifting and we shape our bodies and we lift heavy weights," said Romero.

There is plenty to see, sample, even sweat.

A day pass is $30 or $45 for the weekend.
