Boy fatally shot in Compton; suspect sought
A 3-year-old boy died after being shot in Compton Saturday night, authorities said. The suspect remained on the loose.

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A 3-year-old boy died after being shot in Compton Saturday night.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 7:45 in the 2800 block of West Alondra Boulevard outside of a liquor store.

But the mother of the boy drove from the scene in search of help and found deputies near a restaurant in the 17000 block of South Central Avenue.

The boy was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were searching for a suspect.

Investigators were canvassing the two scenes for evidence. As of 11 p.m. Saturday, a suspect had not been caught.

The investigation is ongoing.
