Hollywood Hills structure engulfed in flames in brush fire
Flames engulfed a structure after a small brush fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills early Friday morning.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Flames engulfed a structure after a small brush fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills early Friday morning.

The blaze was reported around 6:30 a.m. on an east-facing slope above Gould Avenue. The structure appeared to be residential, and fire officials said it was vacant.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from the ground and the air. The fire was estimated to be about half an acre.

Nearly 100 firefighters were assigned to tackle the blaze, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews were able to get a handle on the fire by around 6:30 a.m. before flames could spread to any other buildings, fire officials said.

The fire was completely knocked down at 7:05 a.m., according to LAFD.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known. No injuries were reported.
