CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was found dead on a street in Corona early Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to launch a homicide investigation.

Officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. to a report of a possible pedestrian lying in the roadway near the 1300 block of Old Temescal Road, not far from the 15 Freeway, according to the Corona Police Department.

"When officers arrived on scene, they determined there was a deceased black male laying in the middle of the road. They had a paramedic come up, check him, confirmed he was deceased and investigators came out," Sgt. Chad Fountain said.

They arrived to find the victim of a homicide, investigators said. The man has not been identified.

Police did not say how the man died, adding that investigators were "working several different angles." One source told Eyewitness News they're certain this is a murder.
