VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was arrested after he allegedly fired gunshots at his workplace, then led police on a short chase through the San Fernando Valley.

Police say the incident began when the man showed up late to the medical transport company in Van Nuys where he had worked for the last five years.

He was apparently drunk and armed with a gun, police say.

He got into a confrontation with the owner of the company and then, while he was standing on the sidewalk, fired two shots into the air and then took off in a company vehicle.

Police chased the man and caught up with him about 3 miles away, at Roscoe Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon in Panorama City.

Officers say they saw the gun in the man's waistband and used a Taser to take him into custody. Paramedics also treated him at the scene and transported him in an ambulance.

Employees at the business say no one was injured.
