There's some excitement happening Friday in space! An asteroid is expected to come close to Earth.

NASA says a space rock will pass by Earth on Friday around 2:30 p.m. PT at a distance of about 39,000 miles, which is less than one-fifth the distance between the Earth and the moon.

The asteroid, which is named 2018 CB, is estimated to be between 50 and 130 feet in size and was discovered by NASA-funded Catalina Sky Survey on Feb. 4.

This will be the second asteroid near earth this week. On Tuesday, another one passed within 114,000 miles of Earth.
