Family seeks answers after Corona man found stabbed in street

CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- The family Michael D. Williams II is searching for answers after the 26-year-old was discovered lying in the middle of a Corona roadway last week.

"I would like answers. I would like my child back. I know that isn't going to happen, but I'd like answers. I want justice," said Elyse Vaughn, the victim's mother.

Around 2 a.m. On Feb. 7, a passerby reported a body lying in the roadway near the 1300 block of Old Temescal Road, not far from the 15 Freeway, according to the Corona Police Department.

It's unclear how Williams ended up on the roadway, but police said the man has injuries consistent with stab wounds.

His younger brother said earlier in the day the two had spoken. "We just talked for a second and it was so quick and he started walking home," said Lanier Williams.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral costs as Williams' parents prepare to bury their first born, a son who was the very heart and soul of the family.

"As soon as he walked into the room it lit up. He gave hugs, he gave kisses. He was the life of the party, the life of the family. That was my child," said the victim's mother.

A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona. A funeral will be held the next day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
