NEWHALL, Calif. (KABC) -- A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering his 25-year-old wife in Newhall early Sunday morning.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies found Courtney Arvizu's body at about 2:10 a.m. in the 22800 block of 9th Street, while conducting a welfare check. Deputies found Arvizu lying in the living room and forced their way in.

Arvizu appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, homicide detectives said.

Deputies later detained and arrested Arvizu's husband, Robert Arvizu. He was being held on $1 million bail.
