VALPARAISO, Chile -- A 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit Chile on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.
The earthquake hit 37 miles NNE of Valparaiso at 3:32 p.m. and had a depth of 37.3 miles, the USGS said. It was first reported as a 6.3-magnitude earthquake but was later upgraded.
There was no immediate word on any damages or injuries, but electricity and telephone outages were reported in some areas.
