616 without power in El Monte after tree falls on power lines, catches fire

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A tree that fell on power lines and caught fire in El Monte left 616 people without power Sunday night.

Los Angeles County Fire officials said the fire was reported around 9 p.m. in the 3300 block of Meeker Avenue.

Southern California Edison had been notified of the outage and repair crews were dispatched.

Edison estimated the power would be back on for the residents by 1:15 a.m. Monday.
