Seven people were injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A driver allegedly attempting to flee a minor traffic accident Saturday crashed into another car, injuring seven people, including a baby, in Hollywood. He then fled the scene, leaving his car behind.

The crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Orange Drive. The hit-and-run suspect was driving south on Orange Drive, when he ran a red light and slammed into a Toyota Corolla driving eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Police Sgt. Clifton Frazier says the suspect helped several people get out of his car before he fled the scene of the crash on foot. He was last seen running eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard.

The seven patients included a 2-year-old boy, 1-month-old boy, 50-year-old man, 19-year-old man, 20-year-old woman, 16-year-old girl and a man of unknown age, Los Angeles fire officials said.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. The hit-and-run driver was fleeing a minor traffic just north of the scene, Sgt. James Tomeo said.

Authorities previously said all seven victims were listed in critical condition, but have since said the victims suffered only minor injuries.
