RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman was arrested on DUI charges in Riverside after she allegedly killed her father while backing her car out of a garage.

Soukvilay Barton, 37, was taken into custody Friday night.

The incident happened at a home in the 14000 block of Bush Avenue. Officers said Barton's father, 69-year-old Bounmy Rajsombath, was standing behind her 2003 BMW convertible. He was begging her not to drive after she had been drinking, according to police.

Barton apparently ignored his pleas, backed out and struck him in the driveway, police said. She stopped the car after seeing that he was injured, police said.

Rajsombath was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he later died.

It is unclear if Barton will face further charges.
