Aeromexico Flight 18 aborted take-off from Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday morning because of two blown tires.

Airport officials initially reported mechanical failures at about 6:30 a.m. for the Boeing 737 plane bound for Mexico. All 129 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated.

A runway was temporarily closed and the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for arriving flights until the aircraft could be taken to a remote gate for inspection and maintenance. Normal operations were expected to resume once the plane is towed, officials said.

Passengers were expected to be booked on the airline's four flights later in the day, LAX officials said. No departure flights have been delayed.
